The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society’s

Annual Spring Conference Is Back!

IMG_3460_edited-1.jpg

After taking time out of the state’s annual conference in order to host the national conference (which was a huge success thanks to all of you!), we are now ready to resume our annual conference.

This year's conference is in memory of Laura Lowery for her dedication, commitment, and achievements that benefited wildlife and natural resource management in the Ocala National Forest and beyond.

Please join us in Tallahassee on April 21-23, 2010, for an in-depth look at this year’s Plenary Theme: “Longleaf Ecosystem Restoration and Management” and many other hot Florida topics.  We will also be offering workshops and field trips in some of North Florida’s most beautiful places.  As usual, we encourage you to participate by giving a presentation on research projects, management updates, field techniques, etc.  This is a great forum for sharing information with your peers, and the subject matter does not have to be related to the plenary theme.  We will also have a Poster Session this year for those who prefer this to a formal presentation. [Call for Papers

We know the economy is still struggling to get on its feet and that there are still some travel restrictions in place, so we are keeping our registration rates low because we want you there!  We will also have  roommate matching and car-pooling opportunities available on our Facebook site.

Location: Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, 2725 Graves Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.

Registration: Early Registration (by April 9th) is $99 for members, $139 for non-members (you can join for $20 and take advantage of the lower registration rate if you wish), and $49 for students.  Click HERE to register online or print and mail this registration form.

Room Rate: Group rate for the first 50 rooms is only $99/room but reservation must be made by 3/31/2010.  Make them now, even if you are waiting for travel authorization, to assure you have a spot - you can always cancel later.  Call the hotel directly at (850) 536-2000 and ask for the Florida Chapter of the Wildlife Society room block.

Students: Two hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn will be available on a first-come first-serve basis (one room for males and one room for females). Be sure to sumbit your abstracts because there will also be a $100 prize for "Best Student Paper!"
