Membership - WhyFLTWS is a state nonprofit organization dedicated to excellence in wildlife stewardship through science and education. Since 1966, FLTWS has worked to advance the science and practice of wildlife management and conservation, promote continuing education for wildlife professionals, and advocate for science-based wildlife policy. These activities further the Society's mission to represent and serve wildlife professionals- the scientists, technicians, and practitioners actively working to manage, conserve, protect, and study wildlife and their habitats worldwide.
Benefits of Membership
Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society provides its members with:
Expert Networks
FLTWS members include wildlife managers, researchers, conservation practitioners, policy makers, academics, and students. Our members gather at the regional and state or provincial levels, in TWS student chapters, and also in TWS working groups that investigate major problems in wildlife management and conservation.
Certification and Professional Development
TWS offers a tiered Certification Program that provides recognition for the qualifications and expertise of wildlife managers and technicians as they advance through their careers. Wildlife Biologists certified by TWS are widely-known as highly educated, experienced and dedicated stewards of wildlife resources. While the certification process is managed by national TWS, FLTWS offers meetings or workshops that can be used as continuing education credits.
Meetings and Conferences
The FLTWS Spring and Fall Conferences bring together diverse professionals to explore, learn, and debate cutting-edge research, management practices, and policy issues, and to receive hands-on training in new management techniques.
Web Resources
www.fltws.org is a premier information resource for wildlife scientists, managers, and policy makers.
The site offers news, member directories, Society information, a calendar of wildlife-related events, links to our affiliates, and a multitude of other resources tailored to help wildlife professionals solve problems.
