Description of duties: Wildlife Management Area Responsibilities:  Includes direct involvement in the development and implementation of management programs for the Green Swamp and Upper Hillsborough Wildlife Management Areas, and Little Gator Creek Wildlife and Environmental Area (Lead Area).  Coordination of the development and periodic revision of long-range, comprehensive management plans, input and review for the preparation of programs, annual work plans, budget proposals, area regulations, brochures and reports.  Collection of biological data to evaluate wildlife population numbers / fluctuations and land response to habitat management and user pressures.  Accomplish Commission-planned activities such as controlled burning, roller chopping, resource inventories, road repairs, fence maintenance, public hunt management, game check station operation, etc.   Provide wildlife-related recreational opportunities including consumptive and non-consumptive uses where appropriate.  Propose regulations based on sound biological and sociological principles to control activities on the area. Identification and protection of endangered species and habitats.  Documentation, recommendation and administration of eradication programs for exotic plant and animal species to ensure ecosystem integrity

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Wildlife ecology, ecosystem management, ability to write technical reports, wildlife and habitat survey and inventory knowledge.  The ability to: operate outdoors under inclement weather conditions; work productively unsupervised; design statistically sound projects; supervise and motivate field staff (one wildlife technician); and interact with hunters.
