Job Summary:
This is professional work coordinating, designing and implementing mitigation projects and hydrologic restoration projects on District lands.
Job duties include:
· Manages the Geographic Information System (GIS) databases for the Division of Water and Land Resources. Performs specific GIS project work for the Division and assists with complex projects such as data analysis, geodatabase design, develop user interface tools and applications, and integration of other databases with the GIS. Maintains all Bureau GIS data (metadata) and ensures it is easily available for staff. Responsible for the data attribution of geodatabases and periodic updates of the data. Extracts data for annual reports and special projects.
· Provide technical and operational support to the forest management program. Specifically, assist in strategic and tactical planning, evaluation and execution of the forest inventory, and harvest planning. Included, is growth and yield modeling, analysis of data within the forestry database and maintenance of the database. Provide assistance in field data collection methods and auditing of collected data to meet the management objectives of the forest management program.
· Provide technical and operational support to the fire management efforts of the Bureau. This includes direct involvement in executing prescribed burns and suppressing wildfires as well as assistance with the planning and tracking of fire management activities, such as controlled burns, wildfires, and suppression line restoration.
· Coordinates the Bureau’s GIS training needs; provides technical GIS support to staff. Performs other related work as assigned.
· Serves as technical interface between Land Resources and Real Estate Services. Maintains and inputs acquisition parcel boundary data and pertinent information including easement and lease information into ArcGIS SDE database. Provides technical support on an as needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a natural science such as biology, environmental science, ecology, geomatics, geology/GIS and four years of professional experience in the environmental field.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in a natural science such as biology, environmental science, ecology, geomatics, geology/GIS can substitute for one year of the required experience.
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a natural science such as biology, environmental science, ecology, geomatics, geology/GIS can substitute for two years of the required experience.
Professional experience in environmental protection or research can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Additional Details:
Base Salary: $53,414.40
