Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Alligator Management Program Coordinator with the implementation of the statewide alligator management program to achieve objectives in the program's operational plans and to achieve goals, policies, strategies, and objectives in the Agency Strategic Plan, particularly as they relate to alligators and alligator habitat.
Responsible for assisting the Coordinator with preparing budget requests, annual program documents, and annual progress reports; independently administering budgets including evaluating needs, planning expenditures, and monitoring travel expenditures and budget balances; purchasing items necessary for administration and operation; and formulating recommendations for alligator population and habitat management policies and strategies and recommending regulatory changes as appropriate based upon a review of harvest data, population surveys, life history information, and other relevant data.
Responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Private Lands Alligator Management and Alligator Farming program elements, statewide, and the implementation of other alligator management program elements as directed by the Alligator Management Program Coordinator. Duties include developing plans, approaches, and procedures for achieving program objectives; ensuring effective coordination of annual nesting and night-light survey data collection for establishing harvest quotas and monitoring population trends and the impacts of harvests; ensuring effective coordination and planning of alligator egg collection activities with participating farmers; and monitoring and keeping the Coordinator informed of the effectiveness of implementation of all other program operations.
Supervises one Biological Scientist IV, one Biological Scientist III, and OPS positions as assigned. Duties include reviewing work priorities, evaluating work performance, and ensuring that staff perform all appropriate work activities consistent with operational plans and Commission policy.
Assists Commission constituents to resolve questions or problems they may have in matters relating to the Commission, its programs or fish and wildlife conservation, generally. Seeks to garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida's citizens in a positive and proactive manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences with five years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program is required.
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences with three years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program is preferred.
