The State of Florida's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute seeks a Data Quality Manager for the State of Florida Shorebird Program.



Job Description

This position will support the Shorebird Program through data-related partner communications, training, attending partnership meetings, and Help Desk support.  This position will require frequent communication with an array of professional staff and volunteers who collect shorebird monitoring data across the state (i.e. conducting trainings, webinars, and presentations).  In addition, the position will coordinate and complete Data Quality (QC) review and correction. This position will assist with the design and function of database user interfaces including built in quality assurance measures & quality control procedures.  This person will develop and disseminate training materials, receive and share partner feedback with relevant shorebird program staff/teams, and ensure that information is reported back to monitoring partners. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for partners on all shorebird protocols and data-related needs.  The position will be based out of Gainesville, Florida.



Minimum Qualifications



A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences or computer science or information systems field and two years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program; or a master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences and one year of professional experience as described above; or a doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences



Preferred Experience

Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with relational databases in MS Access, and SQL Server, or Oracle.



Knowledge, Skill(s), and Abilities

Knowledge of: Monitoring protocols and data collection techniques for shorebirds and seabirds; terminology, principles, and techniques used in biological research, analysis, data collection, and data management.  Skills: Create standardized QC queries; create and use relational databases in MS Access, and SQL Server, or Oracle; writing for both lay and scientific audiences; effectively conveying information via webinars, trainings, and presentations.  Ability to: communicate technical information effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work both independently as well as part of a team; utilize problem-solving techniques.
