Description
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hiring hunter check station operators for the J. W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and Hungryland Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA).
Hunter check station operators are responsible for staffing the check station, checking hunters in/out, weighing and measuring harvested game, collecting biological samples (including deer heads for chronic wasting disease surveillance), accurately and legibly recording harvest and hunting pressure data, courteously and accurately answering questions, interacting with FWC’s law enforcement officers, and representing the agency in a professional manner while providing service to the public.

Archery Season: August 28 – October 5, 2021
Muzzleloading Gun Season: October 2 – 18, 2021
General Gun Season: October 30, 2021 – January 2, 2022
Spring Turkey Season: February 27 – April 10, 2022

Qualifications
This job involves strenuous work in extreme weather conditions typical of south Florida and requires the incumbent to be in good physical condition. Candidates should be comfortable talking with hunters and handling harvested game. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to work long hours independently once trained. This is an other personnel services (OPS) position and does not provide benefits. This position is temporary and will end with the close of hunting seasons.
