Description

We are seeking motivated wildlife students each semester (spring, summer, and fall), for paid, semester-long wildlife internships. Our property is managed for cattle production, forestry, and other natural resources, including wildlife and hunting operations.

Opportunity: Wildlife interns will be exposed to practical game and non-game wildlife management activities, while experiencing first-hand how a large agricultural operation manages for multiple uses.

Projects: Each intern is assigned a major project to work on throughout the internship. These projects will be related to wildlife management, conservation, and lease management.

Interns might also participate in:
· Food Plot Management: Soil testing, mowing, disking, mapping, fencing, planting, and fertilizing
· Survey: Aerial wildlife surveys, spotlight surveys, camera surveys, and various other wildlife and/or fishery surveys.
· Maintenance and management: Manage feeders, weed control, mowing, prescribed burning, preparation of harvest logbooks, data entry and analysis, etc.

Timing and Schedule:Internships are 3 to 4 Months beginning in January, May, and August. Exact timing is flexible. Work schedules may be tailored to allow time for on-line courses.

Qualifications:
· College students majoring in Wildlife Biology, Range Management, Forestry, Environmental Science, or other related fields.
· Experience with Hunting, Fishing, and Game Management is preferred. Experience guiding or otherwise supporting hunting leases is a plus.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
· Able to meet the physical requirements of the role as well as being willing/able to work outside in year-round weather conditions including heat, cold, wind and rain.
· Available to work 3 to 4 months beginning in January, May, or August of each year.
· Able to reliably get to and from the internship location, per the assigned schedule.

· Note: the intern is responsible for their own personal transportation.

Compensation and Benefits:
· Paid Internship with 45 hrs plus a week
· Housing free of charge (rent/utilities/wifi covered), on-property transportation, and
· Travel stipend for relocation costs.
· Bonus at conclusion based on time worked and completion of training checklist.
